Technical specifications
FIPRO SG 1020 is a strongly alkaline solid formulation used for the immersion degreasing, with or without ultrasound, of ferrous and copper alloy surfaces in galvanic plants; the product is particularly suitable for the removal of oils or cleaning pastes or greases.
FIPRO SG 1020 consists of a mixture of caustic alkalis, alkaline polyphosphates, sequestering and complexing agents and non-ionic and anionic surfactants.
Usage and Applications
FIPRO SG 1020 should be used by immersion in an aqueous solution, under the following operating conditions:
Treatment time 2-5 minutes
Bath temperature 50-70 °C
Bath concentration 50 ÷ 100 g/l
Optimal use values will, in any case, be fixed by Fiprokim's Technical Service, on a case by case basis, during plant start-up, depending on the quality and quantity of the foreign substances to be removed present on the surface of the material, the type of material to be treated and the plant itself.

Bathroom control
Bath control is carried out by determination of free alkalinity, as follows:
Take 10 ml of the bath by means of a graduated pipette, place it in an Erlenmeyer flask, dilute with distilled water and add a few drops of phenolphthalein. The solution will turn violet red. Titrate with 0.1N acid (sulphuric or hydrochloric) until the violet colour changes to colourless.
The number of ml of 0.1N acid consumed for the colour change gives the free alkalinity score of the bath:
a bath prepared at 50 g/l has a score of about 6.0 while one prepared at 100 g/l has a score of about 12.

Power supply
The bath should be checked at least once or twice a day and maintained at the concentration set at start-up. If the score falls below its initial value, add 8.5 kg of FIPRO SG 1020 to the liquor for each missing point and for every 1000 l of liquor.
Storage
For all information on the storage, handling and treatment of FIPRO SG 1020, please refer to the relevant safety data sheet.
